Benefits of the full version
Prospective customers frequently ask what differences there are between the full version of CyberSky and the trial version of the program. The two versions are similar, but the trial version has some limitations intended to make it smaller and faster to download, and also to provide additional incentives to purchase the full version. When you purchase the full version of CyberSky, you’ll receive:
-
Use of the software beyond the 30-day
trial period
The trial version of CyberSky allows you to evaluate the program on up to 30 separate days. That means if you only use the software on 10 days each month, your trial period will expire after three months. When your trial period is over, some of the program’s features will no longer work. The full version places no limit on how long you can use it.
-
About 30 times more stars and 10
times more deep-sky objects
The full version of CyberSky includes 2,459,676 stars, with a magnitude limit of 12 to 14, although some stars as faint as magnitude 15 are included. The trial version includes only 80,158 stars to magnitude 8.5.
The full version includes 5,578 deep-sky objects—5,375 objects as faint as magnitude 13.5, plus 203 dark nebulae. The trial version of CyberSky includes only 504 objects to magnitude 8.5, and no dark nebulae.
The images below show the difference the number of stars and deep-sky objects makes in views of the Orion Nebula, the Eta Carinae Nebula, and a group of galaxies in the constellation Virgo.

No trial-version reminders at startup
Each time you start the trial version of CyberSky, the program reminds you how many days are left in your trial period and also offers you the chance to purchase the full version. The full version of CyberSky doesn’t do this.
-
No watermarks on printed maps
All maps printed by the trial version of CyberSky have the text “CyberSky™ 5 Trial Version” printed in large gray letters at the center of the map. Maps printed by the full version of CyberSky aren’t watermarked in this way.
-
Free updates (to CyberSky 5.3, 5.4,
and so on)
Updates to the full version of CyberSky will be released to fix any bugs that are discovered in the program and to introduce minor enhancements and modifications requested by users. You’ll be able to download a small “patch” from this website that will update your copy of the program to the latest version.
-
Discounted upgrades (to CyberSky
6.0, 7.0, and so on)
When you purchase the full version of CyberSky, you’ll be eligible to purchase all future major releases of the software at a substantial discount—typically for about half the normal price of the software.
